Nora Laughlin   RN

I graduated from Sacred Heart School of Nursing in 1967 and Gonzaga University in 1996.  I have been a nurse “ since dirt was invented” and enjoyed a variety of practice arenas.  I have worked everywhere in the hospital including 7 years in the Operating Room.  I have worked at VNA in Spokane Washington and in MD offices.  In 2002, with my deceased husband John and Jan Alexander, I invented and built Empowering People.  I am a training master Gardener with an interest in survival gardening and community gardening.  I love my bike “ Shelly” and we ride virtually through Germany, France, England, Italy—all places I have visited with  John when he was alive.  I have 4 grown children and 11 amazing grandchildren.  Most recently I adopted a rescue dog named Holly.

    Jan Alexander   RN

Jan graduated from the University of Oregon School of Nursing with a BSN in nursing and has been practicing as a registered nurse for 48 years.  As a military wife with frequent moves, she worked in many different nursing settings, but has a special love for people receiving care in their homes.  She was a Home Health Nurse for many years and has been a Delegating Nurse since the program’s inception in 1996.  Jan teaches Nurse Delegation, Mental Health, Dementia, and Core Basic Skills.  She considers her specialty areas to be home care, teaching, and communication.  Jan is a founding member of Empowering People.

Kathy Carlson     RN

I have been a nurse since 1982, first as an LPN, then on for my RN, which I obtained in 1983. I chose nursing for a profession due to the unlimited amount of learning that it offers. I have worked in many areas of nursing, Chemical Dependency, ICU, Med Surg. Neuros, Long Term care, and today Home Health.  I have been working with Empowering People for 3 years.

                                                      Linda Noble   RN

I have worked as an RN for over 40 years. I have been working in Spokane as a home health nurse for the last 20 years. My other  areas of nursing experience include Community Health, Baccalaureate Nursing Education and Psychiatric nursing.

Danielle Brixey   RN

I have been a registered nurse for 30 years – my professional love has been home healthcare.  I also worked in healthcare for 5 years prior to that, primarily as an aide in several different settings. My high school sweetheart and I have been married for nearly 45 years and he is still my sweetheart. We have two fantastic sons who each had the good sense to marry a lovely woman, bringing two wonderful additions to our family circle. The best part of this life are our four grandchildren who are absolutely the most loving, talented, smartest, cutest, funniest – you get the picture! I’m a quilter as well and participate in quilt therapy daily to keep myself grounded.
